BJB College prohibits entry of outsiders after violence


Bhubaneswar: “Outsiders’ entry prohibited”. This message says it all. The authorities of BJB Autonomous College, here have decided to restrict entry of outsiders into the college campus, to avoid any law and order situations in future.

The decision was taken on Tuesday during a meeting convened by the BJB College Principal, which was attended by senior faculty members and local police officials as well. The meeting was a fallout of the brutal attack on some hostel inmates by some outsiders, following a cricket related dispute on Saturday last.

As per college sources o Wednesday, the gate adjacent to the hostel has been locked up to ensure the safety and security of the inmates. The college authorities have also formed an expert team for the installation of CCTV cameras on the campus and decided to write to the concerned department for wire fencing, sources revealed.

It can be recalled that three hostel students of BJB Autonomous College, here were allegedly stabbed by a group of outsiders following a spat. The profusely bleeding students were rushed to a local hospital for urgent medical care. The three injured students are inmates of Ambedkar Hostel of the college. Basing on the complaint of the college authorities, the Commissionerate Police arrested eight outsiders in connection with the incident, reports revealed.

Since this was not an isolated incident, where outside antisocial elements targeted BJB College students, so the authorities and local police decided to act tough. One of the key decisions taken in the meeting was to strictly restrict entry of outsiders into the college premises, sources said.
