BMC warns to lift vehicles parked on roadsides

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has shifted its focus on haphazard parking of cars and other vehicles on different city roads.

The civic body during corporation meeting on Friday decided to conduct a drive to check roadside parking.

Vehicle owners are not allowed to park in front of their houses and commercial building should have parking facility in the ground floor, said BMC.

Haphazard and illegal parking of vehicles is a major issue not only on the arterial roads but also on residential area lanes.

In the absence of parking space, people park their vehicles by roadside blocking the footpaths, cycle tracks and roadways. Similarly, the problem persists in the residential areas in the absence of car parking spaces in the owners’ houses, said a corporator.
