Bhubaneswar: Former Governor of Odisha MM Rajendran passed away today at the age of 88 years while undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai.
Rajendran is survived by his wife Suseela Rajendran, two sons and a daughter.
A 1957-batch IAS topper, Rajendra retired as the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu. He took over as Governor of Odisha in 1999 soon after the state was hit by a super cyclone of unprecedented severity.
Rajendran shared excellent relationship with all the three chief ministers with whom he worked and completed his tenure as the Governor in 2004.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep condolence on the sad demise of late Rajendran.
CM expressed, “His long years of experience as a career bureaucrat had made him carve a niche for himself as an Administrator. He will be always remembered for his dedication and service to the people.”
