CM’s helicopter makes emergency landing at Jharsuguda


Bhubaneswar: The helicopter carrying Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and senior BJD leader VK Pandian made an emergency landing at Jharsuguda as the aircraft couldn’t land at Bhubaneswar Airport due to bad weather.

While returning from Khariar in Nuapada, the helicopter couldn’t land at Bhubaneswar airport due to strong winds and rains.

After hovering over Bhubaneswar airport for nearly 30-minutes, the helicopter headed to Jharsuguda. Both the Chief Minister and Pandian safely landed in Jharsuguda.

Later, they returned from Jharsuguda after the weater condition imrpoved, said sources.

“A helicopter carrying Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik was coming from Utkela to Bhubaneswar. It couldn’t land here due to strong wind caused by Nor’wester activity. So they diverted to Jharsuguda. However, the weather situation in Bhubaneswar has improved and they have taken off from Jharsuguda and may land here anytime soon,” said Prasanna Pradhan, director of Bhubaneswar airport.
