Chhatrapur (Ganjam): The world’s largest coastal clean-up program, ‘International Coastal Clean-up Day’ was jointly observed by the Indian Coast Guard and Gopalpur Ports Limited.

A special cleanliness drive was organized on Bateswar beach spanning over two kilometers, where over 400 people including port officials, Indian coast Guard, NCC students from various schools and colleges, local citizens and volunteers participated. A 40-member team from different departments of Gopalpur Port arrived at Bateswar beach at 7 am today and joined the coastal clean-up drive and encouraged the students.

The objective of this cleanliness drive is to create awareness among people to keep the beach clean, protect the environment, and inculcate the habit of respecting the beach, which enriches marine biodiversity.

Ajay Kumar Mishra, Senior Vice President (HR/IR), Gopalpur Ports Limited, said, “The simple mantra for protecting our oceans and keeping our beaches clean is to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste, especially plastic waste.

Gopalpur Port has taken several initiatives for the protection of our coastline and beaches. We are committed to safeguarding the coastline of Ganjam district and will further intensify our efforts in the coming days.

He emphasized that everyone’s collective responsibility is to preserve the marine ecosystem and maintain the beauty of the beaches for future generations.
