General coach of Mahima Gosain Express derails, all passengers safe

Sambalpur: A minor derailment was reported this morning involving Train No. 20831 Mahima Gosain Express (Shalimar–Sambalpur Express) near Sambalpur City Station.

At around 09:22 hrs, the rear trolley of a General Coach next to the Guard Van derailed at a very slow speed, shortly after the train departed Sambalpur City at 09:18 hrs.

The incident occurred in the Sambalpur City–Sambalpur section of the route. Fortunately, no injuries or damage to property were reported. All passengers remained safe, and the train—excluding the affected coach—has already resumed its journey to Sambalpur.

Railway officials, including the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), are on site overseeing restoration efforts and conducting an inquiry into the cause of the derailment. The East Coast Railway has assured passengers that normal traffic will be restored at the earliest.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to passenger safety and have taken prompt action to minimize disruption to rail operations.
