Police To Take SUM Hospital Owner On Two-day Remand

Bhubaneswar: The SDJM court on Thursday allowed the Commissionerate Police to take SUM hospital owner Manoj Nayak on two-day remand for further interrogation relating to the violation of fire safety norms.

The Commissionerate Police had applied to take Nayak on three days remand.

The police would take him on remand on Friday.

Nayak was arrested during the early hours on Thursday after he surrendered before Khandagiri police.

Notably, 21 persons have died so far after a major fire broke out in SUM hospital on Monday evening.

Two FIRs have been lodged against the hospital management by fire safety department and DMET for fire safety norms violation.
