BMC Mayor sex scandal: Jena files defamation suit against Pradhan, Pandey

Bhubaneswar: A day after lodging an FIR, BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena on Friday filed a defamation suit and criminal case against two persons in SDJM court here in connection with the sex video, which has purportedly featured Jena.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor has filed the case against National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) state unit president Itish Pradhan and proprietor of niankhunta.com Pradip Pandey.

Jena also urged the court to impose a ban on the broadcasting of the controversial video.

“I have filed a Rs 1 crore defamation suit against the two at Bhubaneswar SDJM court. I expect justice and strong action will be taken against those who have tried to malign my image,” Jena said.

The sex video was uploaded on the website of niankhunta.com and later on youtube.

On the other hand, Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi informed that notice will be issued to Pradhan and Pandey.

Notably, Itish Pradhan had demanded Jena’s resignation at a press conference here claiming that the video features Jena in a sexual act with a woman. He further alleged Jena’s involvement in the murder of Rishi, student of a Bhubaneswar-based private engineering college.

Refuting the allegations, Jena had on Thursday filed an FIR against Pradhan and Pandey at the Capital police station for maligning his reputation.
