Bhubaneswar: In a significant change to the undergraduate admission process, the Odisha Higher Education Department has introduced a new system that allows students to apply for UG courses even before their Plus Two results are declared.
Under the new system, students awaiting their results can now apply by selecting the ‘appeared’ option in the application form. This update is part of an effort to streamline the admission process and reduce delays, as students previously had to wait until the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) released the Plus Two results before applying.
To ensure a smooth transition, the department will allow a 10-day window after the CHSE results are announced for students to log in and update their marks. This step is expected to speed up the seat allotment process and avoid unnecessary hold-ups.
The updated admission process is already in motion. The Common Application Form (CAF) is now available on the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal starting Wednesday. Students can submit their applications online until May 20, and will be able to make edits on May 21 and 22.
Additionally, for those who appeared for the CHSE exams, the process has been made even easier—marks will be auto-fetched directly from the CHSE database, eliminating the need for manual entry.
