Sarathi lands in another controversy

Gives telephonic interview from jail, probe begins.

BHUBANESWAR: The infamous ‘fake godman’ Sarathi alias Santosh Raul, has yet again hogged headlines for wrong reasons for giving a telephonic interview to a private news channel even after being behind the bar.

Sarathi, who is now behind the bars in the Choudwar Circle Jail in Cuttack since August, has given a telephonic interview to an electronic media from the jail on Friday.

Authorities of Choudwar Circle Jail on Saturday began an investigation.

“We will find out whether Santosh has given his interview from inside the jail or the interview has been recorded outside the jail premises. Besides, we will also find out whether someone has given the interview to the local TV channel by imitating his voice. Whoever involved in the incident, will be punished,” said superintendent of Choudwar Circle Jail Niranjan Das.

As per the superintendent, no under trial prisoner (UTP) is allowed for such an illegal purpose except the officially approved telephonic conversation with family members and lawyer in the presence of jail officials.

The superintendent also informed that as per the jail manual, there are two land-phones for the officially approved telephonic talks with family members and lawyer by the UTPs in the presence of jail staff.
