BHUBANESWAR: The house committee of Odisha Assembly has sought an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apprise state’s grave concern over construction of multi-purpose Polavaram irrigation project in Andhra Pradesh.
Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma, a member of the House committee, said the panel headed by the speaker had sought appointment of the Prime Minister between Dec 27 and Jan 18.
“After getting a confirmation regarding the date for the meeting, a discussion will be held with BJP and Congress members of the House committee,” said the minister.
He said another meeting of the House Committee would be held to finalise a draft memorandum to be submitted to the Prime Minister.
Notably, the ruling BJD MPs have already met Modi a few days ago last week raising the Polavaram project issue.
Earlier, the Congress members had resigned from the House committee while BJP members boycotted the meeting after the ruling BJD all of a sudden took out a rally and submitted a memorandum to Governor addressed to President.
They protested the political ploy of the ruling party.
It was earlier decided that the House committee led by Speaker Niranjan Pujari taking all political party members together would meet the Prime Minister and raise the concern of Odisha over the issue.
