BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government on Wednesday confirmed the death of another person due to sunstroke. With this, the death toll due to sunstroke reached 19 in the state.
The state government received reports regarding the death of 191 persons so far while it has completed inquiry of 98 death cases.
It found that 79 deaths, out of 98 cases, have occurred due to some other reasons, said an official of special relief commissioner’s office.
Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar met department has predicted rainfall and thundershower in Odisha under the impact of a deep depression formed over south-west Bay of Bengal.
It said the depression centred over west-central and adjoining south-west the Bay of Bengal, about 780 km south-southwest of Gopalpur, may intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 24 hours.
Most of the places of Odisha recorded decrease in temperature due to the depression bringing relief for people from the blistering heat wave.
