Wonder Boy Budhia’s Statement Recorded

BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate Police on Thursday recorded the statement of wonder marathon boy Budhia Singh and his mother, Sukanti Singh.

The Nayapalli police recorded their statement on Section 161 of CrPC.

Notably, the police had registered a case of abduction following a complaint filed by Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Khurda district.

Budhia Singh along with his mother returned to Odisha on Wednesday night from Mumbai. The wonder boy, however, denied that he was kidnapped.

He said that he was on a long vacation.

His mother Sukanti Singh said Budhia would not return to the state-run sports hostel, where he was admitted since 2007 after child right activists had alleged his coach Biranchi Das exploited him.

Sources said Budhia is likely to stay in KISS hostel and get training under a special coach.

Notably, he had earlier complained that he would not remain in the SAI hostel as he was not being treated and trained properly.

A film ‘Budhia Singh: Born to Run‘ based on the wonder marathon boy will be released on August 5.

Notably, Budhia Singh at the age of four came to the limelight after running 65 km between Puri and Bhubaneswar in seven hours in 2006.

Budhia had gone on summer vacation on May 10 and was supposed to join the sports hostel after vacation on June 7. However, he did not turn up to the hostel triggering a speculation that he was kidnapped by the film production house to promote his biopic.
