Another Interstate Water Dispute In Koraput

Koraput: While the Mahanadi water dispute has remained unsolved, another interstate water dispute has cropped up. This time the issue over the Jaunla River, a distributary of the Indravati river in Koraput district.

The Chhattisgarh government is constructing a barrage on the Jaunla river of Kotpad block of Koraput district.

The district Congress committee on Sunday took out a rally protesting the construction of the Barrage by the Chhattisgarh government over the river of Jaunla.

A team of Congress leaders and workers led by the Koraput district Congress committee president Minakshi Bahinipati and Opposition chief whip Tara Bahinipati protested the construction of the Barrage at Suruli.

During this protest, Kotpad MLA Chandrashekhar Majhi and Laxmipur MLA Kailash Kuleshika were present.

“Congress will keep protesting the barrage construction. This matter will be raised in the monsoon session of the Assembly” Tara Bahinipati.
