Bhubaneswar: Following the attack of ruling BJD on the saffron party for remaining silent on Mahanadi water dispute, Odisha BJP president Basant Panda on Thursday said the state government should discharge its duty instead of indulging in blame game.
“The state government is yet to inform the people who they are going to be affected following the river dispute. The government is not discharging its responsibility,” said Panda.
He said the saffron party has already made its stand clear on the issue.
“We are with the interest of people. First soil, then party. Our stand is that a joint control board should be constituted to resolve the issue. But, the state government has not taken any steps to address the problems,” said the BJP president.
Earlier in the day, BJD spokesperson Pratap Dev had asked the saffron party to make its stand clear on Mahanadi water issue.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik discussed the water issue with several organizations and political parties at the secretariat here.
