HC Notice To BJD MLA On Irregularities In Poll Expenditure

Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court has issued notice to BJD MLA Mayadhar Jena for alleged irregularities in the election expenditure statement submitted to the Election Commission of India (ECI)

Human rights activist Subash Mohapatra, who had filed the case, informed that the court has sought a reply from Mayadhar Jena, ECI and Keonjhar district collector on the matter within four weeks.

The petitioner had sought the disqualification of Jena, who got elected from Anandpur Assembly constituency in 2014 elections.

Mohapatra alleged that Jena had submitted a contradictory statement to the ECI regarding money spent during the election campaign.

Notably, Bollywood star Raveena Tandon campaigned for Maydhar Jena.
