Congress MLAs To Meet President On Mahanadi Water Issue


Bhubaneswar: The Congress legislature party will meet President Pranab Mukherjee to seek his intervention to resolve the Mahanadi water sharing dispute with Chhattisgarh government.

The party MLAs would move to New Delhi to meet the President on October 13, informed Leader of Opposition and senior Congress leader Narasingh Mishra.

He said the President has given his consent to meet the Congress delegation to discuss the Mahanadi water issue.

Earlier, the Opposition leader had invited the ruling BJD MLAs to go along with them to meet Mukherjee.

The ruling party and the opposition parties are opposing the unilateral constructions by Chhattisgarh on the upper catchment of Mahanadi river.
