Rs 1,776 crore crop insurance for 11.61 lakh farmers in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: Odisha government would provide Rs 1,776 crore as crop insurance to 11.61 lakh farmers across the state for Kharif season of 2015.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced it while launching the distribution of crop insurance for farmers in Bargarh district on Wednesday. More than one lakh farmers in Bargarh district will get Rs 276 crore.

The state government has started the process for disbursal of crop insurance amounts among six lakh farmers of 10 districts in western Odisha.

While farmers in Sambalpur district will receive Rs 100 crore, Kalahandi farmers will receive 166 crore and farmers in Balangir will get more than Rs 370 crore, said the Chief Minister.
