Bhubaneswar: Internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik will create Odisha’s rich art and culture through his sand art during the 22nd Asian Athletics Championship which will be held from 5th to 9th July at Bhubaneswar here.
Sudarsan will carve out sand arts at the premises of Kalinga Stadium where the focus will be to promote the rich culture and heritage of Odisha.
He has planned to recreate the miniature of World heritage monument the Sun temple of Konark.
Around 9 tonnes of sand will be used to create all these sculptures, said sudarsan.
Before this, Sudarsan has created many sand sculptures in different sports events like Doha Asian game, Delhi commonwealth game, cricket World Cup London etc .
Organised by the State Sports and Youth Service Department, emphasis has been laid on turning the stadium into an atmosphere resembling sand art to attract people and athletes taking part in the championship.
So far, Padma Sri awarded sand artist Sudarsan has participated in more than 50 international sand art championships and festivals around the world and won many prizes for our country. He is always creating sand art on current issues.
