Paradip: Tension gripped the IOCL Oil Refinery at Paradip as hundreds of labourers on Wednesday staged a dharna demanding to fulfil their 12-point charter of demands.
The labourers under the banner of the Paradip-Erasama Silpanchal Shramik Sangha sat on dharna at Gate No.4 of the IOCL plant affecting the plant activities on Wednesday.
Their main demands include increasing in salary to minimum Rs 18,000 per month, provision of pension etc.
“Though discussions have been held with the IOCL authorities many times over our demands, it is disappointing that the authorities are making promises each time and forgetting to implement them.
We have decided not to withdraw our peaceful agitation until and unless we are assured in written format,” said agitating labourers.
