Odisha Congress leaders meet to prepare roadmap for 2019 elections

Bhubaneswar: A two-day meeting of the newly elected District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents began at the Congress Bhavan here on Wednesday.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik began the review with working president Pradip Majhi and 11 DCC presidents.

Majhi has been given the charge of 11 district organisations. Office bearers of the 11 DCCs were also present at the review meeting.

The Congress party will prepare a roadmap for the ensuing Lok Sabha and Assembly elections scheduled in 2019.

“We have received their valuable feedback and discussed the road-map for strengthening the party,” said the PCC president.

Patnaik said the feedback of grassroots level will be given preference during ticket distribution and it would not be decided at Bhubaneswar.

Patnaik said that youth, women and new faces will be given preference during the distribution of party tickets in the next elections.

“Winnability will be the only yardstick for securing a Congress ticket. We will give priority to youth and women during the distribution of tickets,” said Patnaik.
