Actor Babushan fined for violating traffic norms

Bhubaneswar: Odia film actor Babushan Mohanty was slapped a penalty through e-challan for flouting traffic norms, informed Commissionerate Police on Thursday.

Babushan was fined for not wearing a helmet while driving his bike on Wednesday night.

A commuter shot a video of Babushan while he was riding a motorcycle near the Kalinga Nagar area of the capital city without wearing a helmet. Later, the commuter made the video viral on social media, said sources.

The Commissionerate Police issued a challan of Rs 1000 against Babushaan under the amended Motor Vehicles Act.

 “We adore our actors. But, when Tanmay, better known as Babushan, was found to be riding a bike without a helmet, a challan was issued. That’s our duty. Do follow traffic safety norms always,” tweeted the Commissionerate Police.

However, Babushan clarified, “I was riding outside our compound gate and did not move near any traffic junction or NH. I will be more careful in the future.”
