IMD issues rain, thunderstorm warning in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued rain and thunderstorm warning for several districts.

It said light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely at most places over the districts of north Odisha and at many places over the districts of south Odisha.

The IMD said thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal.

Hail storm and heavy rain is very likely to take place at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balsore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagasinghpur, Ganjam, Jajpur.

Yellow warning has been issued for one or two places over rest of the districts where thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur on Saturday.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena has advised the district administrations to remain alert.
