Bhubaneswar: The Medical Council of India (MCI) has granted the letter of permission to Balasore and Balangir medical colleges to begin admission for the academic session 2018-19.
The new medical colleges will fulfil the advanced healthcare needs of the people in the region and also boost professional manpower in the state, said an official.
The MCI also granted 100 seats each for Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput and Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada for admission into the second year.
Besides, the MCI granted 250 more seats each for SCB medical college in Cuttack and MKCG medical college in Berhampur.
For the academic year 2018-19, two more super-specialty seats are added to Endocrinology department of MKCG Medical College.
