Fully Prepared For Tripartite Meeting On Mahanadi Water Issue: Odisha CM


Bhubaneswar: Odisha is fully prepared for the tripartite meeting to be held in New Delhi on Mahanadi water dispute, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday.

“We are fully prepared for the discussion with Centre on Sep 17 on Mahanadi water issue,” said the Chief Minister after holding a preparatory meeting at the state secretariat here.

He also welcomed the suggestions of individuals, organizations and political parties over the Mahanadi project issue.

The meeting was attended by four Ministers-Debi Prasad Mishra, Bikram Keshari Arukh, Usha Devi and Bijayshree Routray. Besides, chief secretary, development commissioner and other officials were present.

A tripartite meeting is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on September 17. It will be attended by the Chief Ministers of Odisha and Chhattisgarh and Union Minister for Water Resources to resolve the water dispute.

The fact-finding team of BJD, which visited Chhattisgarh to make an on-the-spot assessment of the projects being constructed on the upstream of Mahanadi river, on Sunday had submitted a report to Patnaik.
