Daringibadi, Kashmir of Odisha, receives season’s first snowfall

Kandhamal: Daringibadi, known as the Kashmir of Odisha, experienced its first snowfall of the season on Wednesday with the mercury falling to 3.05 degree Celsius, the lowest temperature of the season in Kandhamal district.

The roofs of houses and paddy fields were covered with a thick layer of snow early Wednesday morning.

The met department predicts that the chill might last for a few more days.

Meanwhile, tourists are thronging to Daringibadi to enjoy the snowfall. With New Year 2018 approaching, Daringibadi has become a favourite destination for the tourists, who want to send sometimes in the lap of nature.

Tourists visiting the place were ecstatic at seeing the snow. People wearing thick winter garments came out of their homes in the morning to see the snow. The area is a mystic place with natural beauty, hills and waterfalls.

To attract tourists to Odisha, a butterfly park has been opened at Daringbadi, the hill station in Kandhamal district known as Kashmir of Odisha.

Even though the state government has built some cottages for the tourists, some are complaining that there are no hotels to stay with family.
