Name Jharsuguda airport as Veer Surendra Sai Airport: Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday requested Union Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu to name Jharsuguda airport after freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai.

In a letter to Prabhu, the Chief Minister requested to name Jharsuguda airport as Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda.

“I am glad to note that Jharsuguda Airport is going to be operationalised soon. This will be the second airport of the state and will cater to the needs of western parts of the state,” said Patnaik.

He said there is a public demand for naming the Jharsuguda Airport in the name of renowned freedom fighter of Odisha Veer Surendra Sai, who hails from the same locality.

“Naming the Airport in his name will be a fitting tribute to the legendary son of the soil,” said the Chief Minister.
