1,038 doctors appointed on single day in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday appointed 1,038 new doctors on a single day.

“Today is a historic day in the field of health care. Appointment of 1,038 doctors in a single day is a revolutionary step in the field of health care,” said the Chief Minister.

Patnaik took part in the induction training of the newly appointed doctors at the Convention Centre in the Lokseva Bhawan here.

He advised the newly appointed medical officers to imbibe the spirit of service to people in their work.

The state has 5,414 doctors out of 8,719 sanctioned posts.

Recently, Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) shortlisted 1,403 doctors and out of them, 1,038 joined today.

The remaining will be given appointment in the next phase, said a statement from CMO.
