Bhubaneswar: While the ruling BJD is in full preparation to gather about 15 thousand people at Naveen Nivas to see off Naveen Patnaik for the tripartite meeting in New Delhi, the Odisha Congress on Friday wished the Chief Minister all the success on the Mahanadi water issue.
The party also released a white paper on the issue.
“I wish the Chief Minister all the success in the tripartite meeting. I hope that the meeting would resolve the Mahanadi water issue,” said Pradesh Congress president Prasad Harichandan.
Demanding that the construction of projects on the upper catchment of Mahanadi should be stopped immediately, he said a water sharing agreement should be signed between the Chhattisgarh and Odisha governments.
If the matter is not resolved in the tripartite meeting, the state government should press for a tribunal, said Harichandan.
Meanwhile, BJD leaders and workers have gathered at Naveen Nivas to see off the Chief Minister. He is scheduled to visit New Delhi on Friday. He would attend the tripartite meeting on Saturday.
