Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has shifted the Unit-I vegetable market to Rajmahal square in order to maintain social distancing and for crowd management due to the coronavirus scare.
The move comes in the wake of the rush among the public to buy vegetables during the lockdown.
The relocation of the vegetable market will be applicable for 45 days, said sources at BMC.
The stretch of shops will start from Rajmahal square and end at AG square.
A majority of the vegetable traders will be relocated to Unit-1 High School ground.
The traders
have been directed to maintain proper hygiene and follow the prescribed norms
of social distancing in view of the COVID-19, said BMC sources.
